Overall, I personally ended up doing one of the best things I did in Vientiane because I really loved learning about the deep history of Laos. Basically, there is a lot to do in Laos, especially if you visit it as a minor matter - travel to Bangkok. More information about all these things and more can be found in my Laos guide.

Therefore, I will definitely be visiting Vientiane, Laos, again, including all that, and it will be my aim to visit it again, as I will complete my ASEAN travel bucket list.

This mini guide takes you through the best things you can do in Vientiane, Laos, with an absolute must-do list. If you are in Laos for the first time to enjoy the essence of the city, you should start your two-week tour here. This is the best thing to do when you are here for only one day, as there is complex architecture and breathtaking views. The main international gateway to Laos is Luang Prabang, and this is one of our top activities in Laos.

Huay Xai is your first stop in Laos if you are coming from Thailand and you use this method. From there you have to take a bus, tuk-tUK or taxi. It is located 25 km southeast of the capital Laos and is a nice end to your trip to Laos if you take a 2-day boat trip to northern Thailand.

This is one of the most extraordinary activities and an opportunity to learn more about the culture and people of Laos. This highly rated cooking school in Vientiane is Lao Experiences, where you can learn about food and culture in Laos! If you are interested in learning more about the history and culture of Laos, this is a site not to be missed, simply known as the National Museum. Although it is not a high quality museum, there is a National History Museum in Laos in Vientiane. A walk through this extensive museum is definitely one of the most interesting things to do in both Vientsiane and Laos. The Lao National Museum is the best place to learn about the Lae people from prehistoric times and to spend a few hours in the sun.

It is only about 1.5 km from the centre of Vientiane in Laos and is relatively easy to reach by bike, but I would recommend exploring some of the more popular places in Luang Prabang. This often overlooked city can be used as a gateway to many of Laos "magnificent sights when exploring a new city and don't forget to miss it by admiring the fascinating sights in Vientsiane and the City of the Moon. We enjoyed our time in Vient Diane and were thrilled to show Laos to those who have never seen it before (here we go to our trip to Laos). If you are short of overnight visas in Thailand, you can still travel to Thailand for a short period of time and I recommend you explore some of these popular places such as Luang's Prabsang and other cities such as Phnom Penh.
