Vientiane Laos Travel

If you have more time to spend in Laos and have reduced your time in Luang Prabang to three days, you should consider adding one of the following destinations to your itinerary. There is no direct flight to or from Lueng Prabsang, but the suggested 7-day itineraries will take you to some of Laos "famous tourist attractions and help you make the most of your trip. When you finish your trip here, you can fly back to Phnom Penh and continue your journey to the untouristy Oudomxay for a few more days.

If you want to travel to Vientiane, the cheapest way to get to Thailand is to fly directly to Thailand, find Thailand and take the bus to Laos. The Thai city is close to the Lao border and you can fly to Phnom Penh or drive via Bangkok to Laos. If you fly directly to Laos, fly from Bangkok to Luang Prabang or from Lueng Prabsang to Oudomxay for a few days.

You will be charged USD 100 per day for your visit, which is a lot of money in Laos, but not the cheapest place to visit.

I enjoyed my time in Vientiane and would recommend exploring new cities, but I would not go there again until my overnight visa in Thailand expires. If you want to spend two weeks in Laos, there is a tourist loop that leads from Vientiane to Vang Vieng Luang Prabang. There is a huge variety of activities, and many of them can be discovered in cities that are often overlooked by travellers.

If you don't have the luxury of unlimited time for backpackers or just a few weeks in Laos, it's always an idea to focus on one region and travel to those places with flights from Lao Airlines. If you are travelling to Laos on an international flight, you will have access to all the tourist attractions in Vientiane, Vang Vieng Luang Prabang and the rest of Laos.

If you decide to see more than one country when you travel to Laos, you can also combine your trip to Laos with Cambodia and Thailand. Laos is a wonderful country to explore on your own, but you feel more comfortable when you can visit Laos on an international flight with flights from Lao Airlines and other international airlines. Besides Vientiane and Vang Vieng Luang Prabang there are many other possibilities to travel in Laos, such as Phnom Penh and Phuket.

A fun way to cross the border between Thailand and Laos is to take a slow boat from Vientiane to Vang Vieng Luang Prabang and cross the Mekong.

If you plan to fly to Laos, you will probably land in Luang Prabang from Vientiane. You could take the night bus from the airport in Vietnam to Lueng Vieng or even to the Mekong, but I would not recommend it. It was only on our second trip that we realized that perhaps the most interesting part of the trip and the best part of the whole trip took place in and around Luang's Prabsang.

Laos is well connected by plane, as there are no direct flights from any country in Asia to Laos, so most travellers cross the border by land. The main international airport is Vientiane International Airport, which is only a few kilometers from Luang Prabang, but not far from the Mekong. It borders Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh.

Here you will meet other travellers, but there are not as many people who are backpacking in Laos as there are in the country. Tourists visit Luang Prabang and see many things that you would see in any other part of Asia, such as the Mekong and the mountains of Laos. Currency exchange to Laos is via Vientiane International Airport and other international airports. In Laos, there is an ATM, but it is difficult to find and is only accessible to a limited number of people.
